Burlington, Vermont city council unanimously voted this month to adopt a non-binding resolution encouraging the city’s hospitality and retail businesses to incorporate more French into signage and daily operations. This resolution aims to increase Burlington’s accessibility for francophone tourists, many of whom travel from neighboring Québec. Canadian tourists account for more than 18% of visits to Vermont each year.
